Bansko is located in the foot of Pirin Mountain. The city has statute of unique village with international significance, which has preserved 200 authentic houses from The Renaissance, 32 architectural objects, 3 churches, many chapels, museums, traditional restaurants and taverns, offering the unique bansko cuisine. The archeological traces of the inhabitants of Bansko and the Razlog Valley in general date to the early periods of the Roman Empire. The town centre is a listed World Heritage Site and the Clock Tower measures the time for over 150 years. There are several housing structures in the town, which date to 100 BC.
The winter resort is located just above the colourful town of Bansko, 12 km up into the picturesque Pirin Mountain. Since the 2008–2009 season, Bansko has been hosting ladies' races from the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The perfectly prepared and secured ski runs are stretched over 70 km. 25 km of modern high-capacity lift infrastructure stands for comfort and minimal waiting times. The resort offers 6 Drags, 7 Chairlifts and 1 Gondola, as well as equipment for artificial snow and lightening for unforgettable Night skiing. The fans of extreme winter sports will enjoy the fun park and the half pipe! The ski-season starts in December and ends in March-April.
You also have to taste the unique red wine and a traditional meat dishes, such as the famous “Starets” and “Karvavitsa”, consumed in front of a fireplace after a day spent skiing on the slopes.



Day 1
Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Tour in the centre of Sofia, The Parliament, National art gallery ( before a King palace), Russian church, officially known as the Church of St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker, built by donations of russian emigrants, National theatre and the Church “St.Sofia” – the second oldest church in Sofia after the rotunda “St.George” and the cathedral “St.Alexander Nevsky”- one of the symbols of the capital, built in 1912. Free time. Dinner.Overnight.

Day 2
Breakfast.Departure for Bansko. Trip to Rila Monastery, the largest and most famous Eastern Ortodox monastery in Bulgaria, founded in X century by bulgarian saint Ivan Rilski (876-946) and built in its present location in XIV century. The Monastery has an unique architecture and resembles a medieval fortress with 24- meters high stone walls, which form irregular pentagon, and narrow windows. The monastery’s inner yard is amazing with its arches and colonnades, covered wooden stairs and carved verandas and the 400 monastic cells.
In the center of the inner yard raises the Tower of Hrelyo, which is built about 13-14 century by the feudal lord Hrelyo Dragovola. The domes are separated in four wings, bound in one amazing architectural entity. The church “The Nativity of the Virgin” was built by master Peter Ivanovich. Maybe the most important thing in the church is the iconostasis which has incredible wood-carving. The wall-paintings were completed in 1846 by many masters from Bulgaria, but only Zahary Zograph signed his paintings.
The Rila Monastery is announced as one of the most important international cultural, historical and architectural monuments.
Late afternoon- accommodation to your chosen hotel in Bansko. Overnight.

Day 3- 7 Bansko
Breakfast. Free time for skiing, walks in the mountain or in Bansko and excursions. Overnight.

Day 8
Breakfast. Leaving the hotel and going back to Sofia airport.

SKI TRACKS
Bansko offers 16 ski tracks, ideal for beginners, advanced and professional skiers, including:
  • Bansko ski road (easy) - Тhis track is getting you off the mountain. It is an exciting 7 km long downhill-trip from the heart of the mountain down to Bansko.
  • Bunderitsa (easy) – Offers a smooth ride, starting at 2560m above sea-level.
  • Todorka (medium) – One of the best tracks here has two different parts – an easy one - the lower part, and a medium one - the upper part.
  • Tomba ( by the name of Alberto Tomba) ( difficult) - This one will catch your breath– the inclination is 73%. Be careful here, it is the one and only Black track in the resort and one of the most difficult in Bulgaria!

EXCURSIONS

The excursions will be organized for minimum of 4 people. ( discounts –for group of 10 people- 10%, for group over 15 people- 15 %)

Excursion to Melnik, The Rozhen Monastery- Rupite.
Tour in the smallest bulgarian city, surrounded by impressive natural sand pyramids in various forms. The city was founded by Thracian tribe. Today it has about 500 citizens and has preserved its traditional wine-cellars, uniques architectural monuments and unspoiled nature. Melnik is cultural and historical national treasure.
Sightseeing city tour among the ancient houses with interesting architecture and interior – Kordopulov House, Pashov House, Cincarov House, Velev House and the Byzantine House- one of the oldest civilian buildings in the Balkans. Lunch in traditional restaurant with bulgarian cuisine.
Leaving Melnik and going to the Rozhen Monastery ( 6km from Melnik). Founded in 1217, the present monastery church was built before the 15th century and painted in 1597. In the central bay of the chapel you will see the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary the Platytera. The Monastery is national treasure, apogee of bulgarian culture and inflexibility during the centuries.
Sightseeing in the picturesque site of Rupite, near Petrich city, which is known as the place where the most phenomenal bulgarian prophet –Vanga- welcomed her guests and replenished her unique energy. Vanga is one of the symbols of Bulgaria, known all over the world.
In the evening return to the hotel in Bansko.

Excursion to Sandansky, Melnik and Rupite
The city lies at the remains of ancient Thracian village, founded near the hot mineral springs in the area. The first citizens were from Maedi tribe, from which descends the famous leader Spartacus. The romans knew the healing powers of the mineral springs and built a bath-asclepion.

Excursion to Plovdiv
Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia and it has more than 6000 years history-one of the most ancient cities in Europe. Scientists think that it might be contemporary of Troy, older than Athens and Rome. Plovdiv is situated in the southern part of the Plovdiv Plain on the two banks of the Maritsa River. During the centuries it was populated by thracians, romans, gothes and ottomans which thraces made the city a living museum.

Walk in Ancient Plovdiv, visiting Balabanov House, the aqueduct, arheological site “Nebet tepe”, the fortress of Filipopulous, Hisar kapiq, church “St. Konstantine and Helen”, the roman forum( amphitheatre), roman stadium and the clockwork tower in Sahat tepe, built in 16th century and still working.
